ABOUT THE STONES:

{Agate is the Mystical birthstone for the month of September and the birth stone for the Zodiac sign of Gemini. Montana agate is usually a creamy light yellow to almost clear color with embedded moss structures in varying shades of brownish red to black. Montana Agate is the name given to the beautiful Chalcedony found in Yellowstone River’s alluvial gavels. It formed during the Pleistocene period. It can also be known as Yellowstone Agate because of its origin that is centralized in the Yellowstone Park area.

Onyx is a variety of the microcrystalline quartz, called chalcedony. Onyx is an ancient gemstone, having been used in jewelry and as an ornamental gemstone for carvings since antiquity. Onyx is a gemstone whose description can have several connotations. Its most accepted gemstone definition describes a solid black chalcedony or a banded or layered black and white Chalcedony.

This variety is termed "dendritic" due to its internal collection of dendrites. Dendrites are fern-like inclusions of iron, manganese, or other metallic oxides that create bold patterns within the gem. Typically, dendritic agates are cut into slices to best exhibit nature's artwork. As you might guess, these pieces are one-of-a-kinds, as no two dendritic patterns are exactly the same. Usually these agates are white, yellow, blue, green or pink and show the black inclusions well.}
