Hubei Beaded Necklace

98.00

A beautiful bright piece of Hubei turquoise with teals and dark blues rest within a fine silver serrated bezel, atop a sterling silver backplate, with beaded wire details. My maker's mark and .925 are included on the back for authenticity. All jump rings have been soldered closed for durability.  The pendant was given a dark patina and brought to a soft, satin finish. It hangs on a non-adjustable sterling silver chain, with a total length of approximately 10 inches.

Hubei turquoise was mined in the Hubei province of China. Its name "Hubei" means "North of the lake," which refers to the position in which the stone was found. This kind of turquoise was not developed by miners. It was found by farmers in the region. Chinese turquoise accounts for 80% of the turquoise now sold in the U.S. and some of it is so beautiful, it even rivals the famous mines from the American southwest.
