Writing Stone Ring {size 6.75}

110.00

A piece of Chinese writing stone is set within a fine silver "crown" bezel, atop a solid sterling silver backplate, with a shadowbox border. My maker's mark and .925 are included on the back for authenticity. The band has been hammered to provide texture. A black patina was added to the ring, and then brought to a soft, satin finish to compliment the stone. Love big rings? This one definitely makes a statement and measures a little over 1 1/2 inches in length.

Chinese writing stone (also known as porphory or Chinese letter stone) is a limestone matrix with andalusite crystals that appear as a delightful pattern resembling Chinese characters. It appears in colors ranging from a very dark gray or almost black to creamy white, both with a slight greenish cast. This stone is found at the Yangtze River Valley of the Hunan Province of China, and also the Auburn, California region of the foothills of the Sierra Nevada's.
