sunstone statement ring {size 6}

0.00

Two amber-colored sparkly Sunstones rest inside of fine silver serrated bezels, atop a sterling silver backplate, with two silver ball details. Perfect for fall, this ring is meant to resemble the beautiful colors associated with the season. A comfortable, wide band adorns the back, best fitting a US size 6. My maker's mark and .925 are stamped to the back. The ring has been given a dark patina and then brought to a satin finish, leaving parts of the dark patina to resemble an ombre effect.

The name "sunstone" is given to minerals in the feldspar group that exhibit metallic flashes when light interacts with plate-like mineral inclusions within the stone. This play of color is known as "aventurescence." The most famous sunstone deposits within the U.S. are located in Oregon. A few of the deposits are large enough to sustain mining operations. The Oregon deposits were found by Native Americans who used the stone widely in jewelry, as well as traditions. The inclusions inside the stones are usually copper, hematite, or goethite.
