prehnite drop necklace

0.00

A pale green piece of Prehnite with black Epidote inclusions is set within a fine silver scalloped bezel, atop a sterling silver backplate. My maker’s mark and .925 are included on the back for authenticity. The pendant is very lightweight and strung on a sterling silver chain, making the total length approximately 10 1/2 inches. It was given a black patina and then brought to a soft, stain gray finish.

Prehnite was named after its discoverer: Colonel Hendrik von Prehn and is an attractive collection mineral exhibiting a pale green color. It has been claimed that Prehnite was the first mineral named after a person. It was first described in 1788 after it was discovered in South Africa. It is considered a very protective stone and a stone of prophesy. Prehnite is also considered a rare collector’s gemstone.
