ocean jasper earrings

Built from hand, these christmasy Ocean Jasper cabochons sit inside of fine silver serrated bezels, atop a chiseled sterling silver backplate, with sterling silver ear wires. My initials (C.G.) and .925 are stamped to the back for authenticity. Each pair measures roughly 2 inches. They have both been given a dark patina and then brought to a satin finish.

Ocean Jasper is a trade name for a multicolored stone from Madagascar, typically with spherical patterning. Although commonly described as an orbicular jasper, the most recent research suggests it is the mineral chalcedony instead. Some pieces have agate banding or druses of clear quartz, a coating of tiny crystals, known more commonly as "druzy". Ocean Jasper comes in many colors and patterns. (Source: Enter the Earth)
