moonstone shimmer ring {size 6.75}

0.00

A beautiful piece of Moonstone is set within a scalloped fine silver bezel, atop a sterling silver backplate and surrounded by twist wire. When held in natural light, the stone either presents an opaque sheen or a sparkly shimmer, similar to sunstone. A tiny hand-sawn crescent moon sits on the ring band and fits a US size 6.75. My maker's mark and .925 are stamped to a separate tag and soldered to the back. The ring has been given a black patina and then sanded and polished to a satin finish. {Ring face measures approximately 1 inch}

"The most important moonstone deposits are from Sri Lanka and India. Moonstone is known to exhibit a distinct sheen under certain lighting conditions, and it is the sheen which renders moonstone one of the most remarkable gemstones available today. As light enters the stone, it is refracted and scattered, producing an extremely unique and attractive play of both color and light. With moonstone, the aura of light actually appears to glow from deep within the surface of the stone." {Source: GemSelect}
