Azurite Feather Earrings

0.00

Two beautiful Azurite with Malachite and Chrysocolla cabochons rest inside of fine silver scalloped bezels. One has a bit more green in coloring, while the other has a bit more blue. Three feathers dangle below each earring allowing movement and are complete with handmade ear wires that have been soldered closed for durability. A patina has been added and polished to a shine, to emphasize the depth of the details.

When in the Earth, Azurite can change to Malachite, so it is rare to find one stone without the other one present. Often, Chrysocolla (light green to sky blue color) is present as well. Chrysocolla is formed in the oxidation zone of copper deposits and is sometimes confused with Turquoise. Azurite is found mainly in North Africa, Australia, South America, Mexico and the American Southwest. Malachite is formed near copper ore deposits in the same areas as Azurite. It is rarely mistaken for a different green stone and is known for its agate-like bands. Chrysocolla is found worldwide, but is mostly mined in the American southwest, in the same locations as both Azurite and Malachite.

Earrings measure approximately 2 1/2 inches in length.
